Where I Try and Find Anything That Our Member of Congress Actually Did
By Tom McMahan
It’s probably the case that Marjorie Taylor Greene’s tired routine is just wearing thin with…everyone. No matter how outrageous she acts these days, the news media doesn’t always pick up on it, and even rightwing media seems to have grown somewhat bored with her, too. But here goes nothing…a look at 2 weeks of spinning wheels in the life of America’s worst member of Congress.
March 20th: Defends Elon Musk publicly, states that those who are publicly opposing Musk, like Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and the #TeslaTakedown movement, are “organizing political violence and terrorism” and “reporting” her to the Attorney General and FBI Director. Check out the video in the link above, I challenge you to find any “political violence” on the part of Rep. Crockett. Trump later “Truthed” that he looked forward to sending protestors to El Salvador…as soon as he can, when he’s through destroying the economy and golfing with Saudis.
More on the #TeslaTakedown movement here:
But you can also tell from the link below that Greene was really just riding a concerted wave of phony conservative outrage, trying to pose Tesla as a “victim” with the AG being as ridiculous as she normally is:
BTW, here’s a good primer on communicating with your Member of Congress: (I can post more in the comments if people run into a paywall, let me know.)
March 26th: Greene’s one “real” job is Chairwoman of DOGE Committee. But you’ll notice there hasn’t been a great deal of news about her activities there, because, in typical Greene fashion, she can’t actually do anything right. Most of her hearings to date have been on par with this one, where she tries to portray PBS and NPR as “radical,” something that ain’t going to fly or generate a great deal of serious attention.
March 27th: Greene tells a UK journalist to “go back to her country.” The fact this only got about a day’s worth of real attention goes to show how “old hat” Greene has become even for the “outrage cycle” mainstream media.
April 5th: The real Greene story of note over the past few weeks happened over the weekend and, of course, had nothing to do with her “real job.” Greene’s son turned 22 over the weekend, and Greene bizarrely went on Twitter to ask for “beer money” for him from followers. To say her followers tore into her would be an understatement, and Greene quickly took down the post. For someone who taunts other Republicans about “panicking,” Greene sure panics in a hurry when supporters scream at her.
Greene’s followers pointed out she’s worth about $22 million, and this in turn brought up the real Marge jewel of the past month, her “insider trading” activities.
That activity goes back to the last week of March, which saw Greene transferring her stock portfolio into government bond purchases, right before Trump’s big tariff announcements. She obviously knew what was coming and, not being a “panican” (her dumb name for panicking Republicans) at all!!—she decided to shelter her money with good ole’ Uncle Sam!
Then there’s the ongoing saga of whether Greene will run for Senate next year. Senator Ossoff has been doing a great job keeping Greene front-and-center, obviously because she’s a great fundraiser (for Ossoff, who had record 1st Quarter donations), and because Greene would be the easiest of all possible opponents:
Plus Greene’s Mt. Rushmore-sized ego is constantly stoked by these talks. The real question remains whether Gov Brian Kemp is going to run and right now that seems to be iffy? Ossoff declines to talk about Kemp but continues with his “Trump has said that he would back Marjorie Taylor Green” talk, again a winning formula for him. Greene, for her part, told the AJC a month ago: “Of course I’m considering all possibilities. No decisions have been made, but I would be telling a lie if I didn’t say I wasn’t considering it.”
Run Marge…Run.
Wow- she even included a venmo link for her son! Yes, she doesn't seem to be Trump's favorite female crazy anymore - competition from Laura Loomer and others. Sad!!
Well Done/ keep up the good work
