Our first volunteering opportunity is canvassing by mail!
The Dade County Democratic Committee is working with the Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) this year in several ways. The first of which is with their “Postcards to Swing States” program. PTP sends millions of postcards out to swing states, like Georgia, and they’ve had studies done which show the value in this. Democratic turnout goes up by about 1.3% with this approach, and that can easily make the difference in states like ours. In fact, there will be somewhere between 300-400 Dade Countians receiving these postcards, and our Committee is “paying forward” PTP’s efforts on our behalf here by participating in the program!
Our target state is North Carolina. It’s easiest to distribute these in batches of 25, so you’ll receive that many post cards, a mailing list, and instructions with short messages to write on the mailers. If you want to purchase post card stamps as part of your effort, you can do that here. (Total cost for 25 postcard stamps is $13.25) Or, we can pay for those and send those to you, whichever you want! The postcards themselves will be mailed on October 15th.
Sign up to postcard to swing states here today!
You can also sign up with us to volunteer in person Wednesday evening in Trenton at Guthrie’s from 5:30 to 7 pm! We’ll have the post cards and materials there to hand to you directly!
Remember to vote in the primary tomorrow, May 21st! (at your home precinct).
Turnout is down across the board from the 2022 primary, not just in Dade, but statewide. Republican turnout has dropped more than Democratic turnout, 9 points more.
Here in Dade, if we have a good election day turnout, our core Democrats will meet our expected turnout level! Now, that includes a fairly large segment who have crossed over to vote in the Republican primary, but again, that’s understandable with contested local races all located there. The key thing is that the trend we’ve seen of late everywhere, Democrats over-performing relative to Republicans, seems to be continuing so far this year in Georgia and locally! And that’s even with an awful 2nd week of early voting our side had earlier this month.
Keep voting Dems!!!
