I'm a data nerd, so I love creating predictive models on voting here locally. Before early voting even started, I projected the following for the Presidential Primary here in Dade: (let me go ahead and stick my neck out early)
Democratic ballots cast - 172
Republican ballots cast - 730
Low totals to be sure, but Presidential primaries almost always have the lowest vote totals, ESPECIALLY when they’re uncontested (or virtually so), which both parties are this year.
After 1 day…
31 Republican ballots have been cast
7 Democratic ballots have been cast
That’s almost exactly the same proportion to my prediction (slightly over 4% of the vote in each case).
Want to help prove me wrong? In a good way? VOTE DEMOCRATIC! Polls are open!
Early voting is going on right now at the Administrative Building, 71 Case Ave. You can also still vote absentee but I would not wait much longer if you’re choosing that route. Let us know if we can help.
Of course, you could prove me wrong in a bad way by not voting…but you wouldn’t do that to me, would you? LOL
Those numbers include absentee ballots that have been turned in but not yet counted. And, yes, since a person has to pick a party, which party you vote in is part of the public record.
