I want to start by thanking everyone who made our recent fundraiser a big success! It was easily our biggest crowd, and we’ve easily had our best fundraising year in a long time. At the top of the list is our Events Committee, headed by Rita Fanning and Georgeann Smith! Just amazing work they’re doing, and assisting in that is Debbie Tringali, Leroy Fanning, Doug Ely, Toni Gwaltney, Gladys Mynatt, Ed Gwaltney and Lizzie Caldwell. Congratulations and thanks to all! (Pictures from the event are below)
A big thank you to candidates Bart Bryant and Jack Zibluk for being in attendance and speaking to the crowd! Our condolences to Shawn Harris who couldn’t be in attendance because of a funeral he had to attend! We hope Shawn will be at our August 14th meeting in Trenton.
Speaking of candidates, we now have plenty of yard signs for those three as well as for President Biden/Vice President Harris. REQUEST YOURS HERE TODAY!
We also have one more packet of 25 post cards from the Progressive Turnout Project to give. If you’re interested in post carding, email me at dadedemocrat@gmail.com.
I’m also Vice-Chair of the Georgia Democratic Rural Council. We conduct monthly training on Votebuilder and other Get Out the Vote efforts, and tonight our meeting will have Reid McCollum from the Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) giving a presentation. If you’re interested in post carding or canvassing door-to-door, PTP might be something worth checking out! The link for signing up to view tonight’s training is here, you will receive connecting info before the meeting.
And a follow up on the debate from a few evenings ago…still no indication it’s really made a difference one way or the other. I wouldn’t worry about it unless we see “blue wall” state numbers going negative in some way (Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania). Media profits by blowing things up, let’s just keep our cool for now.
And, in that light, this will probably be the one and only Substack for the month of July! June was a super-busy month politically, we all now what’s coming from August to November, so unless there’s something REALLY BIG AND EARTH SHATTERING!!!! in July, what do you say we push away from politics for a few weeks and enjoy the summer?
See you in August.
